The excitement of heading off on holidays can often leave you forgetting to do those few important things before jetting off. We've compiled a short checklist to help make your holiday preparations a little less stressful.

  1. Medical check and vaccinations. Depending on where you're heading, a visit to the doc is a good idea to check that you're up to date with all any vaccinations you may need, as well as getting any scripts for medications your require while you're away.
  2. Make sure your passport is up to date. An easy one, but it's a good idea to check your passport is still current and obtain any visa's you may require prior to heading off.
  3. Check Smart Traveller. Be sure to visit https://smartraveller.gov.au to check any travel warnings or advice for the destination you 're travelling to. It's also a good idea to leave a travel itinerary with friends and family so they know what your expected movements are, in case of an emergency.
  4. Purchase Travel Insurance. If you're heading overseas, make sure you purchase appropriate travel insurance to suit your needs. You never know when injury or illness may strike and a doctor's visit or hospitalisation can be extremely costly.
  5. Let your bank know you are heading overseas. It's important to let your bank know when you're heading off on a holiday (especially overseas) so they can ensure it is noted in their systems in order to prevent any card access issues if trying to use your bank card overseas.

Now, you're ready to take off. If you have any questions during your travel planning process, be sure to give us a call or visit a branch.
