Did you know sudden Cardiac Arrest kills more Australians than anything else? This alarming stat comes from Heart180 Lifesaving Defibs, a company who has designed a life-saving app – literally!
The app called ‘Defib Hero’ was designed by Australian, Guy Leech, after losing one of his best mates to a sudden cardiac arrest. Guy later learned that if there was a defibrillator (AED) close by, his friends’ chances of survival would have jumped from around 6% all the way to 70%.
Defib Hero is designed to equip the local community so they can help save a life in a cardiac emergency. The app does this by helping people find their nearest defib, register their own defib to assist others in the local area and provides free online training.
Defib Hero recently launched in Bundaberg and to support this great initiative and the local Bundaberg community, Auswide Bank has installed a publicly available (24hours) defib at the front of our head office at 16 Barolin Street.
If you have a defib you would like to register, or if you want to be prepared in the case of a life-threatening emergency, download the Defib Hero app from the App Store or Google Play. Knowing where your nearest Defib is located at any time could mean the difference between life & death.
